ok so here are my pokemon impressions:

I’m 25 and was heavily into red/blue when it came out in 1998. After green version, I kind of fell off the band wagon. I was always frustrated that Nintendo didn’t make the 3d pokemon game I saw in my head and they lost me once they started increasing beyond the original 151.

anyone on the fence, take heed: this is the pokemon game I (and probably you) wanted 15 years ago. While I’m still not too keen on the new pokemon, there are PLENTY of appearances by many original pokemon. The question is: does it still hold up?

Pokemon is as formulaic as ever. You start as the new kid in town and are summoned by the local professor to go out on a quest. This time, though, you’re not out to fill your pokedex you’re researching mega evolition with 4 other kids from your town. There are some new features like mega evolution and mini games to train your pokemon. The differences really end there, but if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it.

overall it is a great game. The 3d seems rarely used outside of battles but as someone who can hardly see the 3d anyway, I’m thankful. The visuals really speak for themselves with everything rendered beautifully while still retaining the classic pokemon charm.

Ill keep updating as I get further. I’m about 10 hours in right now and having a blast. I highly recommend it!

So, I have built up both my splinter cell online character as well as my GTAV online character in order to play in this upcoming night of gaming with VGHO (without embarrassing myself), but have yet to see a date for this mythical session. Any ideas on a date? On a side note, I find myself playing both with the same tactics; Lean out of cover, Head-shot, Lean into cover, Repeat as necessary. 🙂

Sorry to keep you waiting! We’re looking at next Friday 10/25 for some Splinter Cell Spies vs. Mercs Classic. No GTAO date yet but we’ll definitely do that soon now that it seems to be working.

Thanks for the quick response! I’ll set aside that date. 🙂

I finished Fire Emblem Awakening and Professor Layton and The Miracle Mask just so I could play Pokemon with a clear conscience. It was a 3DS backlog attack of my on.

I haven’t played much on any of the games beyond Generation 2. Mainly because it was hard to find people who played Pokemon around here. Well, none of my friends back then did.

Now I find myself in a circle of friends that, in the last few months, got so pumped up about Pokemon they bought a 3DS and a copy of the game each.

Having people to play pokemon with is what is really worth the experience. Even if it’s just with all the new online features the game have.

45 hours into the game and already planning themed championships to play with friends I can say… that my copy of Animal Crossing will stay sealed for a few more months.

I played a gba pokemon and liked it. I was in college and then got married amd played it early into that. I swear I played for hours, like almost daily for a year, and never beat it. Same thing happened with my diamond/pearl. Played a ton but never finished. This one is very cute, but I feel I will be playing it at least as long as AC….like 2 years. Its not a daily game at this point though.

Oh and like matt said, was just a bit too old when it came out. Much too old to get into the cartoon. Also here’s a new element. I grew up in a conservative christian small town where the scuttlebutt was that pokemon was evil.
