Trophies can be use for good. I really like to collect trophies on games that will have you do 100% of the game content in order to get the so wanted Platinum Trophy.

If the game has me engaged in its world and I want to spend more time on it I’ll do all there is to be done. If then I get a Platinum, great, otherwiser I won’t get out of my way. For exemple, Red Dead Redemption had me picking flowers for quests, searching treasures and all, but I just couldn’t bear play the multiplayer. Nothing wrong with it, just not my kind of multiplayer. So I got all the most of the off-line Trophies, and bearly none of the on-line ones.

I have more to say on the topic, but let that for other time.
It’s been a while since I comment here, but I kept listening to you.
    Great job guys.

Thanks for listening, Piel — we definitely appreciate your continued support and interaction. I don’t think we really touched on multiplayer-only trophies on the show, actually. Those make me really angsty because I seldom dip into the online modes with any consistency. If a game has trophies like that it almost definitely means I’ll never be able to hit 100% on it.

Nintendo does have a name for achievements! They call them, wait for it… “accomplishments.” Also they’re only in the 3DS Mii Plaza for now, as far as I know, so it’s dubious whether that really counts.

I used to like the idea of metagame achievements (and I suppose I still do), but lately I’ve been annoyed with them popping up all the time because it immediately pulls me out of the experience. If possible, I turn off notifications and check my progress later.

I completely forgot about the Accomplishments on the 3DS! I wonder if they’ll ever apply that branding to all of their platforms.

The accomplishments are good for the mii plaza, like the find mii game, because it’s such a dumb game. They actually give me a reason to play it over and over.
