We humbly present the VGH Holiday Gift Guide (with apologies to all of the non-creepy mall Santas out there). We’ve got cool gift ideas for gamers, readers, comic book and movie lovers, and more. No one will judge you if you decide to keep the best stuff for yourself. Also on this week’s show: our (almost) final word on FTL and The Walking Dead, thoughts on the surprising new Devil May Cry, and D.J. gets his hands on Nintendo’s hot new thing.

D.J.’s List (with suggestions from Paul and Randy):
Are you (or is someone you know) getting a new console this Christmas? Here are a few lesser-known games we loved.
PlayStation 3 games: Journey, Tokyo Jungle, PixelJunk Shooter 1 + 2, Super Stardust HD
Xbox 360 games: Quarrel, Rez HD, Ikaruga, Radiant Silvergun, Guardian Heroes, The Witcher 2, Deadly Premonition
3DS games: Mighty Switch Force!, Pushmo
Wii U games: Mighty Switch Force! Hyper Drive Edition, Chasing Aurora
PlayStation Vita games: Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack
PC/Steam games: FTL, Magicka, Sanctum, InMomentum
I’ll chime in and say that while Mutant Blobs Attack is FANTASTIC and only costs a mere $7, I think every new Vita owner should plunk down a fiddy and get PS+ for one year. That’ll getcha Mutant Blobs Attack, Uncharted, Gravity Rush, Wipeout, Jet Set Radio, and Final Fantasy Tactics (plus whatever else gets rotated in over time). Not to mention, the cloud save space and auto updates…
Good show guys! Randy I was sort of interested in the NeoGeo X but I’m not certain of the release list for games. Nice suggestion on the art books, they will be added to my wishlist. DJ, where are the suggestion for Wii games?
For the Wii, Excite Truck (a launch game, even) is excellent. I prefer it over its online-enabled sequel, Excitebots, because it had a better sense of speed and custom MP3 soundtracks. It’s one of my favorite racing games of all time, next to F-Zero GX.
Also, Rhythm Heaven Fever.
