Weekend Hangover: ‘Superwhat now?’ edition

We’re not exactly sports buffs here at VGH, so that title screen there is about as close to sports coverage as you’re going to get from us. Perhaps some of you will be watching the “big game” this weekend, but most of us will probably be doing something far more productive with our time: playing video games.

Need something to pass the time while you wait for kickoff? How about listening to VGH #39 (featuring the triumphant return of our Video Game Community Theatre segment) or watching us play through the Syndicate co-op demo?

What are the VGH crew playing this weekend?

Randy Dickinson (@randy_wrecked): If the people on my Twitter feed are to be believed, apparently there’s some kind of big sports thing on TV this weekend. I’ll be doing everything in my power to avoid being subjected to it: going out to dinner, seeing a movie, and playing Quarrel and Zack Zero until the hubbub dies down. I’m also hoping the VGH crew will have a chance to get together to try out the Twisted Metal demo, as well.

D.J. Ross (@metaly): It’s Star Trek Online‘s second year anniversary this weekend, and Cryptic is rolling out the brand new Federation flagship to celebrate. I’ll be logging in to take it on a shakedown cruise and hopefully pick up some party favors from Q. With the game recently having gone free to play, there’s no reason you can’t do the same! Also, have you watched this week’s Soulcalibur edition of Lore in a Minute yet?

Paul Sandhu (@spaulsandhu): This week has been absolutely crazy in terms of drama, lack of sleep and everything else. So, of course I plan on continuing to play Mass Effect 2. Yep, ME3 is right around the corner and I need to have my 89th play through completed in time!

Matt Kernan (@mkernan): My patience has paid off and Ghost Trick has finally made it to iOS. I downloaded the free starter app and went ahead and paid the $10 in-app fee for the full game before even trying it out, simply because I’ve heard so many good things about it. The fact that it’s a universal app and syncs your progress across devices certainly helped convince me to nab it too. Aside from that, I’ll probably try to make some more progress in Singularity, watch my kids go nuts with Double Fine Happy Action Theater, and maybe even pull some post-completion shenanigans in Saints Row: The Third.

I enjoyed the demo, so I’d like to play it at some point, but it didn’t hook me enough to convince me to get it at full price.

So I bit the bullet and pre-ordered Amalur. Can’t wait to try it as the buzz around it has been very positive so far!

Very much so. Money is a little tight since I had to pay for some car repairs last week, otherwise I was going to pre-order it!

Pretty varied weekend for me so far. I did log in and spend some time on Star Trek Online. Other than that playing some Sly Cooper Collection and Deus Ex (first hour of this game was better than 90% of the shite I played in the last 12 months.)

Oh and I will be watching the game …. for free food.

The original Deus Ex or Human Revolution?

Should have clarified ….. Human Revolution.
